The seafood is so fresh. Every time my wife and I go there, we can always find something to explore. The sashimi is very good, especially the scallop.
We had a wonderful time at Leichi! From the moment we walked in seeing the cute decorated interior, to the final bite of dessert sad that our meal was ending. We came on a weekday night, only having to wait about 5 minutes for our table. Once we were seated, the server provided a brief overview of the menu and provided us recommendations as requested. The restaurant mostly does dishes tapas style so everything is in small portions, which I love because it gives you the great opportunity to try multiple dishes in one sitting. Everything we had here was great! My favorites were definitely the broiled salmon cheek, the salmon ochazuke (this might be an acquired taste though), and the roasted green tea Panna cotta, but you can't go wrong with anything here! Overall a great spot to check out to try a bunch of yummy dishes.
I didn't know soba could taste so delicious! I've heard of Leichi's soba before, but hadn't had the chance to try until now. We ordered the duck cold dipping soba. It was very flavorful. I was actually bummed we had only ordered one to share since it was so tasty. After eating most of the dishes, we were still a little hungry so we asked our server to make a recommendation and he suggested the Buri Daikon. It was sooooo flavorful and delicious. The cuts of tuna were so fatty, I want to order it again. Con: We had made a reservation for two for dinner, but they ended up seating us at the bar instead of an open table (that ended up going to a walk in.) It wasn't bad but since this was a special dinner, it felt a little odd to be at the checkout counter. They had a ton of tablets for Uber Eats and Doordash there and it detracted from our experience. Get: Soba with duck! Buri daikon Maybe: Sashimi sampler (not a standout) Ikura Chawamushi Skip: Scallop Carpaccio (basil didn't work for me) Dessert (the panna cotta was too firm)
We were visiting the bay area and were invited for lunch here. Yes, a reservation is definitely recommended as they get really busy here....as the place is not very big. However, it is a cute little cozy and charming place to have some very good quality Japanese food. Yes, the food here is very good.....the sashimi very fresh, sliced to a perfect thickness, and served at just the right temperature. The Mixed Tempura was equally as fresh and had a very nice light crunch to the coating, the Assorted Hot Pot was very comforting.....but let it cool first as it's boiling HOT! The Agedashi Tofu is very authentic and tasted just the way I like it, and the Miso Gindara Saikyo (black cod) was grilled to perfection...soft, flaky, and mouth-meltingly delicious. So, why not 5 stars? We had ordered a lot of sashimi, but they only gave us a small bit of it. I asked our server for more wasabi and she said that there would be an extra $3 charge for more wasabi.....seriously? This really spoiled most of my dining experience here for sure.
This is such a cute little dainty spot for Japanese tapas and authentic soba made in-house. Everything was delicious and not heavy at all, it's the simplicity of ingredients and flavor that really made the dishes appealing to try! I was amazed from the fresh tofu skin with uni on top, something so delicate and simple could be a flavor bomb in your mouth - warning it's a bit slimy if you're acquired to texture. My boyfriend was a fan of the salmon chazuke with the piping hot broth served in a sake cup to let you pour it on your own.
A very cozy restaurant that takes me back to Japan. For appetizers, we got thinly sliced beef that you cook yourself on a hot stone/plate, so you can cook to your liking, such as medium rare or however you like it. Sprinkle some salt and lemon, and it was delicious! We also got the silken tofu, and another tofu dish. I got the cold soba with tempura, and I really liked the soba! The others got bentos since it was on the lunch menu. The tempura could have been slightly crispier, but still yummy nonetheless. The rest of the group has been here 3+ times, and they always get the thinly sliced beef on the hot stone (I think it was beef tongue?) so I would highly recommend that as an appetizer! Would definitely come again
I haven't been to Leichi is a long time. Too long! It's still great. We had a tofu salad, with loads of bonito flakes--delicate and savory, atop extremely fresh assorted greens. The assorted tempura had three big pieces of shrimp and various vegetables, perfectly fried. Something I have never seen before was the ebi baguette. A fish cake made with shrimp between slices of bread, battered and fried until well browned and crisp. So unique and soooo good! The smoked duck was served under a smoke-filled glass. Tender, juicy, and very, um, smokey. They really get all the details right here. Even the miso soup was exemplary--savory and flavorful. Service was fast and courteous.
Leichi is an intimate and nice Japanese izakaya restaurant with fresh and reasonably priced food! All of the dishes were so fresh, tasty, + beautiful presentation. This was a very intimate setting, come here for your next dinner or lunch out. The service was not that great during dinner time, we didn't receive much help from the server regarding questions about our dishes; but it could be because it was busy. Dishes we got: Sashimi treasure box Unagi rice box Agedashi tofu Definitely will be back for a lunch!
This is one of my favorite Japanese late night eats spots in the Bay Area. Their fish is always super fresh and delicious. The presentation is also always on point. Something that is not on point is the service because the server dropped off our sashimi plate without telling us which fish is what and my tea was never refilled. I would recommend getting there as soon as they open if you want to have a proper dinner as seating is pretty limited.
